- Obituary from Duluth Herald dated Thursday, February 21, 1935 states: Charles L. Avery, age 80, former resident of Duluth and vicinity for 54 years and a former yardmaster and switchman for the N.P. Railway for many years, died yesterday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. F.A. Burton, Jamestown, N.D., with whom he had been living for the last three years. Other survivors are: A daughter, Mrs. John S. Spence of Duluth; a son, Elwin, town of Herman; a sister, Mrs. George Albright, Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Albert, Sault Ste. Marie, and Ben, Delavan, Wis. The body will be brought to Duluth for burial. Charles is buried in Section E, Block 8, Lot 38, Grave 4. The cause of death is listed as a fractured femur.
