George Colton, known in the record by the title of Quartermaster, from whom descended all of the Coltons in this country so far as known, is said to have come from a town in England called Sunnoncofield. Came first to Windsor, married Deborah Gardner of Hartford, and was one of the first settlers in that part of Springfield called Longmeadow.
