Census: 1880 census shows E. A. Pratt aged 27 and his wife Eliza J., they have 3 children and Edwin is a farmer. Census: 1900 census shows Edwin and Eliza have moved to Minneapolis and Edwin is an expert machinist. In the intervening years they have had six more children, 2 born in South Dakota and 1 in Iowa followed by 3 more back in Minnesota. Census: 1910 census shows the family in Wisconsin where Edwin is farming. They have been married 37 years and have had nine children, all of whom are living in 1910. Census: 1920 census shows Edwin and Eliza back in Minneapolis. Three of their adult children and their spouses are in the household as well as a granddaughter. Given the age of their oldest child it would seem she was born before the wedding. Immigration: William, Matilda and 3 children arrived at the Port of New York on April 30, 1852. They came to the US aboard the "Cornelius Grinnell." Census: The 1860 census shows William and Matilda living in Wisconsin where William is a saloon keeper. Enumerated are 5 children, our ancester (#4 of 5) is the first born in the US. Military Note: In 1863, at the age of 40, William Pratt of Racine registered for the Civil War Draft. Census: The 1880 census shows William and Matilda farming in Iowa with their youngest son, Charles. Census: The 1910 census shows William and Matilda living with their son and his large family, farming in Wisconsin.
