Birth: Quaker birth record recorded as 26 of 6 Mo 1764. DNA: MKM Note: At Pipe Creek Monthly Meeting, held at Bush Creek, 20 of 4 mo. 1793, Joseph Talbott requested a certificate for himself, Mary his wife and their children, viz. Sarah, Elizabeth, Allen, and William to Westland Monthly Meeting." "At Pipe Creek Monthly Meeting held 18 of 5 mo. 1793, the Friends appointed produced a certificate for Joseph Talbott and family which was read, approved, and put in to the hands of Joseph Talbott to forward. Their grandson, Dr. Thomas M. Talbott (Robt.) of Washington, D.C., says that after leaving their home at New Market, Frederick Co., they moved to Sewickly, near Pittsburg, Pa., where his father was born in 1797; that his grandfather, "Joseph bought land in Jefferson co., Ohio, eleven miles from Steubenville, where he laid out a town and called it Richmond, after Richmond, Va."; that "There is now a large number of his descendants in Jefferson Co., and he is buried in the Quaker burying ground near Richmond"; that he remembers having read in a history of Jefferson co., Ohio, that his grandfather paid $2.50 an acre for the farm. Joseph Talbott died there 17 Nov. 1852. His widow (her grandneice, Mrs. Mary S. Plummer says) "was 102 years and a few months old when she died. Note: Joseph Talbott in the year 1799 bought of Bezaleel Wells the northeast quarter of Section 10, for which he paid $2.50 an acre. He settled there the next year and in 1815 employed Isaac Jenkinson to lay out a town with streets sixty feet wide and lots 60 x 160 feet.. The work was conpleted on September 20 and the new town named Richmond. B. Hartman built the first dwelling, a log house 18 x 28 feet, who also kept a hotel and followed blacksmithing. His house was located on the corner of Sugar and Main Streets. Allen Farquhar was the first storekeeper, and by 1817 there were five families in the town, those of William Talbot, Benjamin Hartman, William McCarrell, William Bahan and Anderson Judkins, the latter being the first physician. Richmond was incorporated January 27, 1835. Note: Joseph and wife, Mary and children Sarah, Elizabeth, Allen, William, John, Robert, Mary & Hannah received on certificate from Redstone MM (Fayette Co., PA) dated 1802, 4m, 2d. Will: I, Joseph Talbott, of Salem Township, Jefferson County and State of Ohio do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say; First: It is my will that my Funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid Second: I give, device and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Talbott all and every part of my Estate both real and personal during her natural life. She however first disposing of a Sufficient thereto to pay my just debts as aforesaid. And at the death of my said wife, all the property hereby devised or bequeathed to her as aforesaid or so much as may remain unexpired, to my beloved son Kinsey M. Talbott, and to his heirs and assigns forever. Third: I give and bequeath to my beloved son Allen Talbott one dollar together with all monies, goods and chattel hereto given him, and now in his possession and to his heirs and assigns forever. Fourth: I give and bequeath to my beloved son William Talbott one dollar together with all monies , goods and chattels, hereto given him and now in his possession and to his heirs and ass gins forever. Fifth: I give and bequeath to my beloved son John Talbott, one dollar together with all monies goods and chattels hereto given him and now in his possession and to his heirs and assigns forever. Sixth: I give and bequeath to my beloved Son Robert Talbott one dollar together with all monies goods and chattels heretofore given him and now in his possession and to his heirs and assigns forever. Seventh: I give and bequeath to my beloved Daughter Mary Parsons, one dollar together with all monies goods chattels hereto given her and now in her possession and her heirs and assigns forever Eight: I give and bequeath to my beloved Daughter Hannah Hammond one dollar together with all monies goods and chattels hereto give her and now in her possession and to her heirs and assigns forever Ninth: I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Joseph Talbott one dollar together with all monies, goods and chattels hereto given him and now in his possession and to his heirs and assigns forever. Married: At Pipe Creek Monthly Meeting held 14 of 9 mo. 1786, Joseph Talbott and Mary Farquhar appeared here and declared their Intentions of marriage with each other, the young mans father gave his consent in writing to this meeting. The other parents being present now expressed theirs." "At Pipe Creek Monthly Meeting held 18 of 11 mo. 1786, The Friends appointed to attend the marriage of Joseph Talbott and Mary Farquhar report that they thought it was orderly accomplished and returned the certificate.
DNA: MKM Religion: John and Mary (Johns) Talbott did not unite with the Society of Friends until most of their children had been born. "At a Monthy Meeting held at Herring Creek 25th of 8 Mo. 1771, "John Talbott and his wife reports to this meeting that they have for some considerable time past had a desire to come under the care & notice of friends & it still remains their desire for themselves & children. Therefore this meeting receives them with desire for their prosperity in the best of things." Residence: At a Monthly Meeting at West River 23 of 1 mo. 1778, John Talbott and Mary request a certificate directed to Pipe Creek where they have gone to live.

Land: John's father bequeathed to him 1/2 of Talbott's Ridge on the north side of West River, which he sold, thirty years afterwards, probably to one of his half brothers. The half of Poplar Knowle and the half of Talbott's Timber Neck which he inherited after the death of his brother, Richard Talbott, some years later passed into the possession of his brother Edward TALBOTT.

Note: Abraham Birckhead and William Holland, Sr., were chosen by the vestry as the first Church Wardens of St. James' Parrish. Mr. Holland was probably a kinsman of Colonel William Holland. He served not quite a year as a church warden. Abraham Birckhead served as warden and as Clerk of the vestry, and on April 27, 1701, was elected to the vestry. This day must have been an important one for him. According to the church register "Mr. Abraham Birckhead, age 29 years born October 1675, baptized April 27, 1701," and the next entry on the register: "Elizabeth, daughter of Abraham Birckhead and Rebecca, his wife born April 4, 1701, baptized April 27, 1701. Land: Annapolis, MD (Liber I.B.No 21712-18 Folio.87) 11th Day March 1712, Personally appeared before me one of his Lordships Justices-Abraham Birckhead & at the same time came Rebecca Birckhead his wife.... This Indenture made in ye twelfth year of ye Reigne of Our Sovereigne Lady Anne by ye Grace of God of Great Brittain Ffrance & Ireland Queen & Defender of the ffaith. A.D.1712... Between Abraham Birckhead of A.A. Co.Prov.of Maryland Gent. and only son of their of Abraham Birckhead late of said Co. Dec.-of the one part, & Richard Harrison of CalvertCo. on the other part. Whereas the Rht.Hon Cecilius Calvert-did Grant unto the said Abraham Birckhead, the ffather, a Parcell of land called Birckhead's Chance on branch of Patuxant, to hold the same Abraham Birckhead the ffather & his heirs & the Lord Baltimore did also Grant unto Abraham Birckhead Land called Birckheads Mill in A.A. Married: Meeting at the Clifts the 18th Day of the 10th Month 1691 Abraham Birckhead and Rebecca Billingsley laid their intentions of marriage before this Meeting, it being the second Time, and those ??? who were appointed by the last monthly Meeting at West River to inspect into their ??? from former Engagements, Consent of Parents and Relationis, finding no Objections, and the young Womans Parents, signifying their free consent before this meeting doth therefore leave it to them to appoint a Time and Place for the Accomplishment of their intended marriage and Nehemiah Birckhead and Rich Johns are desired to assist them in that affair.

Married: The Thomas Book states "As Samuel Thomas unquestionably m in 1688, a Mary Hutchins, and their certificate is signed, first, by Francis Hutchins (see West River Marriage Book, p. 19), she must have been the child of a former marriage, her sister of the same name marrying Benjamin Hance.
