The 1930 census states that John was first married at age 25 or between 1909 and 1911 depending on the birth year used. It states that Caroline was first married at age 31 or between 1912 and 1915 depending on the birth year used. I find in the 1910 census at 408 Franklin St., Stevens Point, WI a John S. and Josephine Worzalla with a son, Erwin aged x/12 (illegible). John is listed as a salesman for a dry good store. The Stevens Point Journal lists the wedding announcement of John S. Worzalla and Josephine Dayo. John is listed as being from Winona (MN). Listed as attendants are Vincent and Mary Worzalla, brother and sister of the groom and Frances Dayo, sister of the bride. They are to make their home at 408 Franklin St., Stevens Point. Josephine is the daughter of Stanislaus Dayo of Stevens Point. An article in the Stevens Point Journal lists a real estate transaction between John and Josephine Worzalla occuring in 1912. An obituary is available for purchase, printed late March 1914 for a Mrs. John (Josephine) Worzalla from the Portage County GenWeb site. The obituary of Richard Worsalla states his birthdate as Mar. 7, 1914. An obituary for Stanislaus Dayo in 1928 does not list a daughter Josephine as surviving him. | 8665 | The lineage begins to come forth from the mist of time with an intelligent farmer, John Pearson of Ullock, parish of Dean who by 1641 was a church warden and overseer of St. Oswald's. This old gentleman made his will in January 1649, requesting that his body be buried in the church yard of Dean Parish. Evidently he had paid for the education of a grandson, Christopher Pearson,who was to pay 20 shillings to the parish schools for his part in the estate that he was to receive. He was also to inherit his grandfather's 'husbandry gear'. John Pearson was dead in 1650 when his will was executed, with its numerous and careful bequests.There is a likelihood that John Pearson was one of the children of Jane Pearson, Widow, who died in Dean Parish in 1580, asking that Thomas Pearson shall have the occupation of my farm hold with all my goods moveable and that he brought up the said children honestly with meals and cloth until they come to perfect years of age and that he make my son 'John Pearson' aforesaid tenant of said farmhold by the license of the Lord or his Office.' Her other children were Thomas and Elizabeth. This John could have been a brother to Christopher Pearson, weaver of Ullock, who died in 1613. | 8668 | The locality of Tuntange (French suffix for village is -ange, while German is -ingen) is also recorded Tuntingen and Tintingen. Their oldest daughter was married to a Johann Metz on February 11, 1846. They preceded the rest of the family over to the US. Bill does not know if they were scouting things out, but probably so. The family left Luxembourg in 1847. They travelled to the French port of Le Harve and boarded the S.S. Monterey. They arrived in New York City on August 1, 1847. Bill writes: Bernard was a carpenter by trade, which is revealing. Aside from Luxembourg being a poor country at the time, the family land over the generations had been divided up into smaller and smaller plots. Assuming that Bernard was not the first born male, he may have had no land, which would have put him a notch down on the economic ladder. Makes you wonder how he managed to feed that crowd. He and his wife probably moved to provide opportunity for their children. I see that Bernard only lived a few years after arriving here. He obviously had some money, though, or they could not have made the trip. Amazing that no one died on the journey. I do not recall the name of the church in Tuntange. It is a very small village with no commercial area. All farming from what I could see on a 2 hour visit. Patton's 3rd Army steamrollered through there on the way north to stop the last German offensive in the Battle of the Bulge. I visited the American cemetery in Hamm where Patton is buried. He is where he would want to be - at the head of his troops. The Weidert family is mentioned in the note for George Markert 2nd, in connection with the location of the school in Rasselas, PA. It is not known whether there is any proof of a first marriage for Thomas. The book 'Baltimore County Families, 1659 - 1759.' does not list two marriages; however it does list a Thomas Cole (no known relation to John Cole) who married Mary ? and had Richardson's as in-laws. This Thomas , however, died by 1745. IF there is a first marriage for Thomas, is is possible that his first two children, Christopher and Thomas, were children of the first marriage. This is pure speculation, and there is nothing in public records to support it. In 1725, Thomas surveyed 100 acres of 'Christopher's Lot; between 1/9/1718 and 3/6/1733/4, he obtained portions of 'Levy'sTribe', addition to 'Bevy's Tribe', and 'Green's Chance'; in1750, he owned 100 acres of 'Christophers Lot' and 50 acres of 'Thomas' Lot'; in March 1768, he sold these two tracts to his son, Thomas, Jr.; in 1781, he conveyed to his son Christopher, tracts of 'Christophers Lot' and the lease of 'Mountain.' By 1900, John is dead and Catherine is living with her daughter, Sophia. In 1900 the census states that Catherine had 6 children and 6 of them are living. So... from the charts I am missing Mary and Pauline in the census. From the census I have an extra Anna. In 1910, Mary Veigt is listed as 49 years old which sort of matches up with Anna on the census. In 1920 Mary is listed with the middle initial A. That leaves Pauline. I have been unable to find any trace of a John or Pauline Fischer/Fisher or any children listed on the chart in Minnesota. For recording purposes, since I believe the chart to be correct, I am "keeping" Pauline as a child and will continue to look for little Fischers. | 8697 | The Rev. Michael Roethler , who served 20 years as president of St. Gregory's College and later was named to the state Ethics Commission, died Monday. He was 65. Roethler died at Shawnee Regional Hospital at 1:30 a.m. due to complications from diabetes Ethics Commission Director Marilyn Hughes said Roethler , who was appointed to the commission in 1991 and resigned in November, wrote the state's new gift-reporting law for lawmakers and lobbyists. Roethler started at St. Gregory's College in 1952. He served as instructor, dean of men and athletic director before being named president in 1970. Roethler was born April 3, 1930, in Aberdeen, S. D . He graduated from St. Gregory's College in 1949, entered St. Gregory's Abbey and professed his vows as a Benedictine monk on July 11, 1950. He received his bachelor's degree from St. Benedict's College in Atchison, Kan., and was ordained to the priesthood on Dec. 17, 1955. He received his master's degree from Catholic University of America in Washington, D .C., and his doctorate from Fordham University. A funeral Mass will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at W.P. | 8700 | The Spicer family file states that while enroute from Nebraska to Minnesota Nathan contracted diptheria and died on April 16, 1895 near the city of Winnebago and that he was buried there, under a tree. The 1895 census of this family, taken June 20 in Mazeppa, Faribault Co., and to include those family members as of June 1 includes Nathan, age 3. William indicates he has been in the state and district 11 months.
